“Classic XI” was held in Wellington August 15-16. The teams met Saturday for a 2-hour practice and then they and their families were treated to a delicious barbeque
brisket dinner provided by Ron and Linda Metzen. Rains threatened, but stayed away for the event. As part of the Opening Ceremonies, Neil Lemmons, a 12-year-old Haysville player, performed his
interpretation of “I am the Greatest” by Kenny Rogers to the amusement of the crowd. The West team was managed by Larry Gerwick, Assistant State Commissioner 13 YO’s with coaches Pat Lemmons,
Haysville and Kerwin Spencer, Wellington; and the East team was managed by Dan Welch, District 6 Commissioner. with coaches Brent Julian, Independence and Greg Bogina, Arma. The East team won
both ends of the double-header by scores of 6-5 and 12-8. Thanks to Chris Craig and his staff for a fun and memorable experience for all. Anyone interested in photos taken during the games should contact
