“A Night With Raptors,” by Sally Imhof (PSU Biology Graduate), Meagan Duffee (PSU Biology Student), Delia Lister (Director, PSU Nature Reach). This is a 3 part presentation in which you will learn a little bit about raptor rehabilitation, the sport of falconry, and using birds for education.  Nature Reach’s newest LIVE raptors will be featured.

"Kansas Threatened and Endangered Species."  An informational program will be given by Ed Miller, KDWP biologist, regarding the listing/delisting process for Threatened or Endangered species in Kansas.  Nine of 21 species petitioned were selected for review. Miller will present a brief look at the evidence regarding the status of those 9 species which are under review.

Dr. Kim Smith, Chair of Dept. Biological Sciences, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas will present a program about "Black Bears".  In the 1950s and 1960s he was involved in the reintroduction of Black Bears into Arkansas.  His expertise is not limited to bears.  Dr. Smith received the Marion Jenkinson American Ornithologists' Union (AOU) Service Award for serving a distinguished five-year term as editor of The Auk, from 2000 to 2004 - maintaining The Auk as the highest-impact journal in organismal biology.

"Migrating Waterfowl", by Larry Dablemont of Bolivar, Mo, outdoorsman, book author, area newspaper columnist and radio personality. With more than 40 years of experiences with wildlife his talk should be of interest to hunters and naturalists at all levels.  He was the Missouri Conservation Communicator of The Year, Missouri Conservation Federation, 1994.

"Wild Edibles", by Cyndi Cogbill, former park naturalist from Prairie State Park, working as a private consultant.  Wild edible plants are all around you, in your yard, in the fields, and forests. Cyndi will help you identify edible plants, share simple ways to use them in your diet, and provide samples for you to taste.

"Birds and Climate Change: The Canary in the Coal Mine?", by Chris Pistole.  Chris is a graduate of Pittsburg State University and former head of PSU's Nature Reach and has been Education Director at the Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center in Joplin for the past two and a half years.
