Gen 4:10 "What hast thou done?" "What hast thou done?" Is a Present Question
It speaks to the present actually WHAT DID YOU JUST DO. The question is in the present and the answer is always now-
Life changes by our choices All of us have a almost magical power with in us to effect our world by our choices
"Choose wisely because our momentary choices have eternal impact"
Living in the past is a regretful place living in the future is a wishful place but living in the present is an honest place.
The honest question Not what do you wish you would have done - What do you plan on doing next time What did that person do to you.
With every Choice you make there is hope for a new future
"What hast thou done?" Is a Personal Question (4 Responses to this question)
To Justify ourselves We are always quick to Point out what someone else has done. What society has done What the federal Government has done What a terrible shape the world is in. Look at what my neighbors do
To Commend ourselves We point to what our families have done (accomplished ) What the service clubs we are affiliated with have done What our churchs have done.
To Excuse ourselves we convolute the issue by what we intended to do or what our motives were our what our temperaments were
To Accept our responsibility - 19 times in scripture someone fell on their knees and cried "I Have Sinned" 4 Godly men Job - Micah The Prodigal Son..
2 Sam 12:13 "..David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die." (He wrote a song about it "I have sinned against Thee" Psa 41)
"What hast thou done?" Is a very Proper Question
The question resounds with accountability We dont like Accountability! It always reminds us that we are responsible to someone else for our action, (Judy Hurshman shoved all the papers I gave here in a desk drawer when it was full she quit. )
Rom 14:12 "So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God." Whether you accept him or reject Him serve Him or Scorn Him Believe in Him our deny His existence.
What Have you done with Your Time Talents & Health When we are young & healthy we think that it will last forever. Sin destroys the body & mind- Atrophy robs the talents and intellect - Negativity squelches Joy and peace
